About subcost

Our mission

Most people have no idea what they actually spend on subscriptions. The charges are small, automatic and easy to forget — until you add them up and realize they rival a car payment. subcost exists to make that total impossible to ignore. Tap the services you pay for, see your monthly, annual and 10-year cost in seconds, and find free alternatives for the ones you could live without. It’s free, and nothing you select ever leaves your browser.

How we calculate your total

Every subscription in our database carries a typical 2026 US list price, chosen as the standard or most common plan. When you select services:

  • Monthly total— the sum of each service’s monthly price.
  • Annual total— the sum of each service’s annual price, which uses a discounted yearly plan where one exists (for example, Amazon Prime at $139/year).
  • 5- and 10-year totals— the annual total multiplied by the number of years, shown as the “shock figure”.
  • Savings— for any selected service with a free alternative, we show how much you’d save per month by switching.

What our prices don’t include

We use US list prices as of July 2026. Figures exclude sales tax, family or student plans, promotional rates, telco bundles, and annual price increases (which most services apply). Meal-kit prices reflect a typical monthly plan built from their per-serving cost. Treat your result as a strong estimate, then compare it against your own bank statements for the exact number.

Privacy first

The calculator runs entirely on your device. Your selections are never uploaded, stored or shared — we only collect anonymous usage analytics to understand which tools people find useful. See our privacy policy for the details.

Something wrong or missing?

Prices change constantly. If a figure looks off or your favorite service isn’t listed, we’d love to hear about it — reach out via the details in our footer and we’ll keep the data fresh.
